Description Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing AND two (2) years of supervisory or management experience in a long-term care or health care facility OR an Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma AND four (4) years of supervisory or management experience in a long-term care or health care facility.
MUST SHOW PROOF OF A CURRENT LICENSE TO PRACTICE AS A REGISTERED NURSE IN PENNSYLVANIA AND CURRENT CPR/BLS CERTIFICATION PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT.
It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment.
Duties:
Supervises and directs assigned units. Manages workflow on all shifts. Participates in facility surveys and inspections as requested by the Administrator or Director. Reports QA Audit results to the Director. Implements corrective actions to address results of audits as necessary. Works with the Director to develop and implement correction action plans to address department deficiencies. Assists in the investigation of employee, resident, and family complaints and grievances. Recommends corrective action. Investigates resident abuse allegations and misappropriations of resident property. Ensures residents are provided with professional, kind, and respectful care. Supervises and evaluates the level of resident care. Ensures all nursing personnel are performing their duties according to the acceptable nursing standards. Monitors subordinates' time and attendance. Recommends and implements disciplinary actions as needed. Performs other duties as requested or required.
Knowledge of:
Nursing and medical practices and the laws and regulations that govern long-term care. Principles and practices of leadership and supervision of employees.
Ability to:
Seek and develop process improvement initiatives. Communicate effectively with residents and colleagues. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff. Read and analyze financial and statistical reports. Plan, direct, and evaluate the quality of care and treatment provided to residents. Work with ill, disabled, and elderly people within a long-term care facility. #
