Position Summary:
Oversees the day to day operations and scheduling functions of the neurosurgery OR and supervises staff. Facilitates physician communication and acts as a liaison between the neurosurgeons, Brain & Spine leadership and perioperative services leadership. Ensures neurosurgery ORs operate within the policies of perioperative services, UHS and its regulating bodies. Responsible for recruitment and retention, performance review, and professional development; involved in the budget formulation process and quality outcomes; and helps to plan for, organize, and lead the delivery of neurosurgical nursing care for the neurosurgical OR. Communicates organizational vision and values and asks for the involvement of the work group to achieve target performance in quality, safety, service, efficiency and effectiveness. Manages expenses to established budget and staffing plan. Participates in attracting, hiring, and training of new staff. Maintains knowledge of current nursing practice and roles and functions of patient care team members to include care delivery systems and innovations. Engages staff and other team members in a Shared Governance Framework that identifies and addresses issues, solves problems, and evaluates outcomes. Reports to the Executive Director, Brain & Spine Institute with a dotted line to Executive Director of Perioperative Services
Position Qualification:
Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing is minimal, nursing degree accepted. Master's degree preferred (MSN, MBA, MHA, MPH) and if absent must initiate Master's program within two years of hire. Experience 3 Years as an RN Required Proven leadership and organizational skills required Licensure Registered Nurse in State of Tennessee BLS
