Director of Nursing (DON) -
Skilled Nursing Facility Location:
Blacksburg, VA Job Type:
Full-Time Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and oversight of daily nursing operations within the Skilled Nursing Facility. Ensure residents receive high-quality, compassionate, and person-centered care. Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care and skilled nursing facilities. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support resident care plans and organizational objectives. Lead, mentor, coach, and develop nursing staff to promote professional growth and accountability. Monitor clinical outcomes, quality indicators, and regulatory compliance metrics. Conduct audits and implement process improvements to enhance clinical performance and resident satisfaction. Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and systems that support operational efficiency and quality care. Manage staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, and clinical education initiatives. Participate in survey readiness activities and oversee corrective action plans when necessary. Qualifications Required Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum of three (3) years of nursing leadership experience, including Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager, or equivalent leadership roles. Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations related to Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) and Long-Term Care (LTC). Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and staff development abilities. Strong organizational, auditing, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Previous experience in Skilled Nursing, Long-Term Care, Rehabilitation, or Post-Acute Care settings. Experience with quality improvement initiatives and regulatory survey processes.
