JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director for Nursing Outcomes, Practice & Systems is accountable for fiscal, operational and administrative leadership for the areas within their specific leadership scope. This leader will work with the CNO and other nurse leaders to assure that the appropriate human, fiscal and material resources are available to meet department and strategic goals. This leader supports and develops the inpatient nurse clinicians and assures their work is in alignment with departmental and organizational goals. HeShe serves as the nursing liaison for Pharmacy, and Laboratory and Pathology Services. This nursing leadership professional is responsible for overseeing Clinical Value Analysis for products and technology in inpatient nursing and ancillary areas where purchases directly impact nursing. Other key accountabilities include the trending, analysis and reporting of quality & safety data to advance patient outcomes and nurse practice, developing a departmental program of nursing scholarly work and research as well as strategies to promote evidence based approaches to improve practice and outcomes. The Director for Nursing Outcomes, Practice and Systems is accountable for implementation and support of quality, patient safety and regulatory initiatives across nursing disciplines. This role serves as the liaison between Nursing and the Jeffords Institute for Quality and works collaboratively to support key quality, safety, measurement and regulatory strategies that affect nursing practice. The Director assures policies and procedures used in nursing are up-to-date and evidence based. HeShe will work in partnership with patients and families and the Nursing Professional Governance structure to advance safe, high quality nursing practice and patient outcomes. This role provides leadership for initiatives in nursing informatics, electronic health record development and other information servicestechnology strategies in collaboration with directors in those Information Services areas. This director is the strategic leader for the Magnet Excellence program at UVMMC in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer and the Magnet Steering Committee. This will include oversight for programs that monitor nurse work environmentengagementsatisfaction and nurse sensitive outcomes. In alignment with the UVMMC Leadership Core Competencies, the Nursing Director will create a high performance culture, coach and develop others, demonstrate a commitment to care and service, be skilled at navigating and leading change, demonstrate innovation and ingenuity, and develop and maintain trusting relations. This leader will demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence as evidenced by strength in each of the previous outlined areas. The Director is accountable for the ongoing development of all staff within hisher specified areasunits and directly accountable for development of staff in leadership roles. Heshe provides leadership for improving patient care, planning, staff performance, systems improvements, and professional development. The Director participates in the setting and implementation of the organization's and Department of Nursing's goals, priorities, and strategies and works with other disciplines and groups to provide the highest quality of care across the system.EDUCATION
Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning required. Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont is required.Certification in related nursing specialty preferred
EXPERIENCE
Five years nursing leadership experience. Experience in integrated health systems in an academic medical center preferred.
