Job Description

Director of Nursing (DON) We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee nursing operations within a skilled nursing facility. The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader who is committed to delivering exceptional resident care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering a positive team environment. This is a full-time leadership opportunity for a dedicated nursing professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare setting and is passionate about developing nursing teams while ensuring high-quality outcomes for residents. Position Summary The Director of Nursing is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating all nursing services within the facility. The DON ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting excellence in resident care, employee engagement, quality improvement, and clinical outcomes. Essential Functions Provide leadership and oversight for all nursing operations and clinical services. Ensure delivery of high-quality resident-centered care. Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and standards of practice. Supervise and support nursing management, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. Monitor staffing levels and collaborate with leadership to ensure adequate staffing and scheduling. Oversee resident assessments, care planning, and clinical documentation. Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and facility regulations, including survey readiness. Investigate and resolve resident care concerns, incidents, and clinical issues. Lead infection prevention and control initiatives. Monitor quality measures and implement performance improvement plans as needed. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals. Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and retention of nursing staff. Manage nursing department budgets, supplies, and resources. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and resident satisfaction. Qualifications Required Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Washington. Minimum Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program. Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or management experience in a healthcare setting. Clinical experience in Acute Care and/or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) environments. Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations governing long-term care. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Previous Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Unit Manager, or Nurse Leadership experience. Experience with regulatory surveys and quality assurance programs.
