Job Description

EEG Technician (Neurodiagnostic Specialist - Pediatric & Neurodevelopment Focus)Overview Join a forward-thinking neurodiagnostic team focused on delivering high-quality brain-based insights across diverse patient populations. As an EEG Technician, you will play a critical role in capturing accurate brain activity data to support diagnosis, treatment planning, and long-term care. This role goes beyond standard EEG work. You will work directly with pediatric and neurodevelopmental populations, including individuals with autism spectrum disorder, requiring a patient-centered, adaptable, and clinically aware approach. If you understand that great data comes from both technical skill and patient management, this is the environment for you. Responsibilities Prepare patients for EEG procedures by explaining the process clearly and setting expectations for both patients and caregivers. Adapt communication and approach to support pediatric and neurodevelopmental patients, including those with autism, sensory sensitivities, or behavioral challenges. Set up, calibrate, and operate EEG equipment to ensure optimal signal quality and accurate recordings. Perform routine, pediatric, and ambulatory EEG studies (including 24-72 hour monitoring when applicable). Monitor patient safety, comfort, and responses throughout testing. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of procedures and technical findings. Collaborate with neurologists and clinical teams to ensure high-quality data collection and efficient workflow. Troubleshoot equipment and technical issues to minimize disruption. Create a calm, structured, and supportive testing environment that improves patient compliance and data integrity. Qualifications Experience performing EEGs in a clinical setting (hospital, outpatient, or neurodiagnostic lab). Strong understanding of neurophysiology and EEG acquisition principles. Ability to adapt testing techniques based on patient behavior, cognition, and sensory needs. Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and caregivers. R.EEG.T. certification preferred (or actively working toward certification). Preferred Experience (Highly Valued) Experience working with pediatric and neurodevelopmental populations, including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and related conditions. Ability to complete EEG studies on patients with sensory sensitivities, behavioral challenges, or communication differences. Experience with pediatric EEG and/or ambulatory EEG (24-72 hour studies). Understanding of EEG applications in autism, including regression, sleep disruption, and attention-related concerns. Proven ability to create a calm, structured, and supportive testing environment for both patients and families. Why This Role Matters You are not just running tests—you are helping uncover neurological patterns that guide real care decisions. In this environment, your ability to work with complex patients directly impacts outcomes, not just data collection. If you want to push this further, the next smart move is building a 1-page hiring scorecard so every candidate is evaluated the same way. That's how you avoid hiring a "good EEG tech" who can't handle your patient population.
