Electroencephalogram (EEG) Technicians use specialized equipment and processes to monitor a patient's nervous system activity. They set up, perform and monitor EEG tests which record the electrical activity of a patient's brain over time. EEG Technicians work under the supervision of epileptologists, neurologists or other doctors. By performing EEG monitoring in this role, you will help to create specialized diagnoses to assist in creating patient care plans as well as help to manage patients with chronic conditions. Caregivers in this role often feel fulfilled and valued for their work and feel as though they are able to make a positive change. - A PRN caregiver in this position works any 2 set days per week from 8:00AM - 5:00PM.
- A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform routine and complex EEG examinations in the laboratory, at the patients bedside, Intensive Care Units and operating room.
Physical Requirements:
- + Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment. + Ability to push and maneuver EEG machine weighing 320 pounds and Evoked Potential machine weighing 420 pounds. + Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. + Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
