Leads the daily operations of the electroneurodiagnostic (END) testing area, ensuring that all compliance requirements and quality standards are met.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads or coordinates shift operations of assigned activities, resources and staff. Oversees orientation and training and serves as a resource to department staff. Ensures all activities comply with regulatory agency standards. Conducts intraoperative monitoring and post-surgical monitoring of stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) during surgical procedures. Performs diagnostic electroencephalograph (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) procedures when not in the operating room. Performs neuromonitoring of routine and continuous EEGs. May perform Magnetoencephalography (MEG) procedures or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) procedures. Works under limited supervision with oversight focused on complex new assignments. Completes a variety of atypical assignments. Routinely checks status of EEG software, troubleshoots, and notifies appropriate service and user personnel when troubleshooting procedures fail. Maintains appropriate logs for statistical and accounting purposes, and purposes and performs calculations for required reports. Assists in quality assurance monitoring, environmental controls, infection control standards, equipment selection, operation, application and inventory. Identifies and corrects for artifacts. Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation. Maintains EEG, EMG, and MEG equipment and supplies. May provide input for hiring, training, leading, and evaluating staff. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
EXPERIENCE
Three years' experience in electroneurodiagnostic procedures
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Constant standing and walking. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry. Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving patients. Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors. Occasional driving.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
