UVA Health's Medic V Team, based at 1205 Stoney Ridge Road, Charlottesville VA 22902, is looking for dedicated EMTs and AEMTs ready to deliver life-saving care across Central Virginia. As part of UVA's Medical Transportation Network—built on the legacy of Pegasus—you'll be joining a team known for its excellence, camaraderie, and unwavering commitment to patient safety.
What You'll Do:
Assess and treat ill and injured patients in accordance with UVA Health and regional EMS protocols. Maintain safety as a top priority throughout all aspects of care and transport. Identify opportunities for improved care, contributing to continuous quality improvement. Collaborate effectively with peers, patients, and healthcare teams while upholding professional standards. Ensure vehicles are cleaned, stocked, and ready after each transport or event. Stay current with required certifications, continuing education, and departmental in-services. Represent UVA Health's legacy of excellence, built on decades of trusted emergency medical service through the Pegasus and Medic V programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
Experience:
None
Licensure:
Certified as a Health Emergency Medical Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Valid Driver's License (VADL) and at least 2 years of driving experience required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. EVOC certification and be a released driver to transport patients required within 90 days of hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps), and driving. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, noise, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The starting base rate for this role is $19.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
