Job Summary:
Interacts in a customer-focused and compassionate manner to ensure customers' needs are met with an emphasis on customer service satisfaction. Receives, prioritizes, and directs incoming telephone calls throughout Shore Regional Health while maintaining strict confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards. Responsible for performing overhead paging and announcements in accordance with hospital protocols, including routine communications and emergency notifications. Utilizes the hospital's emergency alert and notification systems to disseminate timely alerts and critical information during emergency events, drills, and operational incidents to support patient care and organizational safety.
Essential Functions of the job:
Answers incoming telephone calls on telephone console; directs calls to requested or appropriate extensions. Monitors emergency, fire, panic, and/or trouble alarms and takes appropriate and immediate action in accordance to department policies and procedures. Checks emergency alarms daily. Controls paging system and relays messages through the pager, phone and/or email systems. Serves as a base station for the two way radio paging for security. Maintains on-call lists that are displayed on Shore Regional Health's Intranet. Initiates and controls back-up telephone system during power failures. Connect/disconnects patient telephone service, as requested by patient or nursing. Maintains department logs. Performs the reception routine in the EDM module of Meditech for ED patients according to department processes. Strives to achieve excellence of service as described in the CARE Commitments. Responds to Shore Regional Health codes as appropriate. Responsible for honest behavior in all matters. To the best of the employee's knowledge and understanding, complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations. Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information. Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the functions of the job. Performs related duties as assigned. Work Experience
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year of receptionist, switchboard, or other communications related experience. Demonstrated excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Computer knowledge necessary; Word, and Excel experience beneficial.
