Job Description

Position Summary :
Under the direction of emergency nursing personnel, the Emergency Room Technician assists in the care and treatment of emergency room patients. Duties include but are not limited to transportation of patients, personal hygiene, collection of vital signs, assist nursing and/or physician staff with procedures as needed, MGH cleaning and stocking. The ER Tech may assist in the coordination and clerical support activities to patient care teams and acts as a focal point of communication. Duties include answering telephones, filing, greeting visitors, electronic data entry and assisting with documentation.
Education Requirements:
Completion of Basic EKG course is required (or within 30 days of hire into the department). Completion of a program for emergency medical technician, nursing assistant, medical assistant or related discipline is strongly preferred.
Experience Requirements:
Acute care hospital or emergency services experience is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
BLSCPI Certification is required (or within 30 days of hire into the position for new certifications).
