The Emergency Department Tech assists the health care professionals in the delivery of care to patients. The Tech provides care under the direction ofRN/LPN/MD
utilizing the skills and techniques established within the job description.Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED BLS Certification through American Heart Association only Successful completion of allOrientation Programs and Documentation Preferred:
1 year patient care experienceCertifications and Licenses:
BLS certification throughAmerican Heart Association Scheduling Requirements:
Nights Full Time 12 hour shiftsMandatory Orientation Essential Functions:
Answers telephone/intercom in a polite manner and communicates information to appropriate personnel/family Applies knee immobilizer, splints, slings, and ace bandages and assists with ambulation techniques Assists with nutritional needs of patients under supervision of RN Assists with patient positioning and repositioning as required Communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate individual Completes personal hygiene for patients Complies with unit and department scheduling Implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department Initiates cardiac monitoring and performs 2 lead EKG Performs phlebotomy and point of care testing Prepares emergency equipment at bedside ie.; suction, oxygen, IV equipment Records patient intake and outputOther Duties:
