Job Description

0.8 FTE position also requires weekend/holiday rotation The Urgent Care Tech provides assistance to providers in the office. The assistance includes but is not limited to data collection for patient intake, assisting with provider/patient needs during procedures and basic documentation of the encounter. The Urgent Care Tech is responsible for assisting with clerical activities related to appointment scheduling, patient intake including data verification and office communications.
Essential Functions:
Attends emergency medical requests as delegated by the RN as they arise; renders emergency assistance to patients as required. Performs and documents patient intake (height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, vision and hearing screening, reason for visit, chief complaint). Assists in the initial management of illness or injury to Urgent Care patients in accordance with specified protocol and procedure. Prepares or assists in the preparation of stable patients for intra-hospital transport, ensuring compliance with facility transport regulations, protocol, and procedure under the direction of the RN. Provides or assists in the provision of basic direct patient care, as directed by the RN, as required in each individual case. Leads, guides, and/or assists in the training of lower level techs and/or tech students, as specifically assigned. Checks in and registers patients while maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements. Collects payments from patients - including copayments, current charges and prior account balances, posts charges, provides receipts and documents all financial transactions, including charge entry at checkout. Prepares daily cash reconciliation and bank deposits. Ensures work queues are up to date.
Job Requirements:
High School diploma 1-3 years of job-related experience required. Preferred grad of a Medical Assistant accredited program, ED Tech BLS certification from American Heart Association required PEARS certification required with in first 90 days.
