As a Radiologic Technologist at Total Point Emergency Center, you are responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging services, including CT and X-Ray, as well as laboratory procedures. You must be proficient in both imaging techniques and laboratory operations, ensuring accurate results for patient diagnosis and treatment. This position requires maintaining active licensure with the Texas Medical Board (TMB), certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. You will report to the Lead Radiologic Technologist, Lead Laboratory Technician, and Facility Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Diagnostic Imaging :
a. Perform high-quality CT and X-Ray imaging procedures as ordered by physicians. b. Ensure proper positioning of patients for accurate diagnostic results. c. Operate imaging equipment safely, adhering to radiation safety protocols. d. Review and evaluate images for clarity, appropriate contrast, and positioning. e. Assist in explaining procedures to patients and ensuring their comfort and safety during imaging studies. 2.
Laboratory Proficiency :
a. Perform laboratory procedures including specimen collection, testing, and point-of-care testing (POCT). b. Operate laboratory equipment and ensure accurate processing of samples. c. Document lab results and communicate findings with the healthcare team. d. Maintain quality control measures and adhere to laboratory safety protocols. 3.
Equipment Maintenance :
a. Ensure that all imaging and laboratory equipment is functioning correctly and is well-maintained. b. Perform routine inspections and report any equipment malfunctions to the Lead Radiologic Technologist, Lead Laboratory Technician, or Facility Director. c. Calibrate imaging and laboratory machines as necessary. 4.
Collaboration & Communication :
a. Work closely with the medical team to provide timely and accurate diagnostic information. b. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding imaging results and laboratory findings. c. Maintain open communication with the Lead Radiologic Technologist, Lead Laboratory Technician, and Facility Director to ensure smooth workflow and patient care. 5.
Documentation :
a. Maintain accurate records of imaging procedures and laboratory tests performed, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and facility protocols. b. Properly document patient information and findings in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. 6.
Patient Care :
a. Assist with patient care duties as needed, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients during both imaging and laboratory procedures. b. Provide education to patients and families about imaging procedures, lab results, and follow-up care. 7.
Professional Development :
a. Maintain active licensure with the Texas Medical Board (TMB) and certification with ARRT. b. Keep current with BLS certification and any other mandatory training. c. Participate in continuing education and training to stay up-to-date with advances in radiologic technology and laboratory practices. 8.
Other Job Duties :
a. Perform other job duties as assigned by the Lead Radiologic Technologist, Lead Laboratory Technician, or Facility Director to ensure the smooth operation of Total Point Emergency Center.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Radiologic Technologist license with the Texas Medical Board (TMB).
- Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficiency in performing CT and X-Ray imaging.
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures and point-of-care testing (POCT).
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physically demanding tasks for prolonged periods.
- Frequent bending, lifting, and positioning of patients and equipment.
- Visual acuity to assess imaging quality and operate laboratory equipment.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced emergency room setting with potential exposure to radiation, infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and blood-borne pathogens.
- Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on patient care needs.
