Purpose Responsible for the equipment and instrumentation in the endoscopy room. Responsible for assisting the physician during endoscopic procedures

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Financial Practices Utilizes facility resources appropriately avoiding wasteful practices Reports wasteful practices Analyzes work area and makes recommendations for potential cost-effective improvements 4. Compliance Program Contributes to the progress and development of the organization's adopted Compliance Program Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures 5. Performance Improvement Program Contributes to the progress and development of the organization's adopted Performance Improvement Program Performs according to established performance Improvement policies and procedures 6. Safety/Risk Management Program Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and policy and procedure noncompliance to the Safety Officer or other designated person 7. Professional Competence Maintains professional competence by participating in continuing education and other learning experiences Contributes to growth and education of staff by sharing knowledge gained in continuing education Maintains membership in relevant professional organization Seeks new learning experiences by accepting challenging opportunities and responsibilities Open to suggestions and recommendations 8. Duties Performs specified functions to meet the requirements of each approved procedure Assembles supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physicians' preference cards Inspects equipment and instruments for proper working condition Arranges equipment and instruments according to routine for given procedure Maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays Correctly utilizes, cares for instruments, supplies and equipment as directed Assists the physician during procedure according to SGNA standards Handles specimens appropriately and labels correctly Cleans equipment according to infection control guidelines and manufactures guidelines Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety Assists in maintaining adequate supplies in the endoscopy room for immediate access during procedure Assists in work area by cleaning and storing equipment and instruments according to manufacturer guidelines Assists in storing and stocking of supplies as directed Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and the physician Documents patient care records and other forms according to facility policies and procedures Reprocesses Endoscopes according to IC and Manufacturers guidelines

Surgical Technologist:

Assists other members of the OR team in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care duties. Practices aseptic technique while assisting with all surgical procedures. Ensures the readiness of the surgical suite. Maintains professional standards and accountability by participating in in-services, committees, staffing needs. Participates in performance improvement initiatives. May perform moderate or waived point of care testing per CLIA guidelines. Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS

Required High school graduate or GED Certification GI Technician experience Strong ethical and moral character references Preferred Two years previous Endoscopy Room experience Surgical Tech license/certification ASC Experience Previous medical experience
