Job Overview:
The Endoscopy Technician is a caregiver who assists the Endoscopy team during endoscopy procedures and assists in the preparation of the s suite area between cases. The Endoscopy Tech understands the principles of asepsis and basic instrumentation. He/she works under the direct supervision of the RN.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School diploma or equivalent Experience in endoscopic reprocessing and management of scopes Additional experience required based upon specific department needs
Certifications and Licenses Required:
BLS Heart Saver/Health Care Provider required. ACLS Heart Saver/Health Care Provider required.
Scheduling Requirements:
Part Time 20 hours/week
Essential Functions:
Complies with all risk reduction procedures to prevent a fire in the OR setting, including safety practices associated with Laser and electrosurgery. Complies with Infection Control Guidelines including surgical hand scrub, fingernail and jewelry policies. Complies with Latex Precautions. Efficiently performs room preparation. Collects supplies, equipment and instrumentation as necessary for preparation of endoscopic cases. Follows all national patient safety goals/risk strategies and associated policies as applicable to scope of practice. Properly prepares rooms and equipment before and after endoscopic procedures. Properly transfers patients to the Endo table and assists with correct positioning for procedure.
