POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment and the care of patients appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Shares responsibility for patient safety at all times. Maintains an environment that is free of obstacles and hazards that could result in injuries to personnel and patients. Position or transport patients in accordance with instructions from medical personnel. Explain to the patient the procedure, connect them to monitoring equipment, reassure & comfort patients during procedures. Prepare suites or rooms according to endoscopic procedure requirements. Knowledge of and ability to use sterile technique. Perform safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning. Anticipates instrument needs intraoperative and assists the physician during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Cleans rooms following procedures according to departmental policy. Returns all supplies equipment and instruments to proper locations. Cleans, disinfects, or calibrate scopes or other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards, including but not limited to sterilizing equipment between patients and adhering to infection control measures. Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Responsible for shipping and receiving endoscopic equipment in need of service/exchange. Maintain inventories of endoscopic equipment and supplies. Performs decontamination, assembling, packaging and sterilization and storage procedures while following the guidelines for safe and correct preparation of all instruments and supplies when working in Sterile Processing during low volume periods in endoscopy. Assists with pulling cases for procedures performed in the operating room and other hospital departments. Demonstrates knowledge of dating system and monitors sterilization parameters according to established policies and procedures. Able to fulfill required "call" for central sterile processing. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification in Endoscopy preferred Current BLS (or obtain prior to the completion of orientation) Critical Thinking Skills
