QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION

High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)

EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of patient care experience in a healthcare setting Previous endoscopy or direct patient care experience preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association

Collaborates with all members of the interprofessional care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner. SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Prepares room, equipment and supplies to accommodate planned procedures. Supports the physician with diagnostic or therapeutic endoscopy procedures, pertinent observations, and anticipates the next steps and possible complications of those procedures. Maintains an orderly work environment that facilitates access to supplies, manuals and other resource information by restocking and cleaning rooms. Independently performs assigned cleaning tasks and documents on checklists.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Utilizes proper use, handling, cleaning, and high-level disinfecting techniques of endoscopes, equipment and accessories. Assists in cleaning room for turnover as needed. Prepares for the procedure by organizing the work flow, problem-solving, and managing multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision. Promotes quality patient care by handling specimens appropriately and entering patient data accurately. Supports and upholds established hospital and department policies, procedures, and standards. Reports observed variances in practices to department management. Contributes towards meeting quality and safety targets on the unit-based scorecard, through peer-to-peer accountability, reporting near misses, and collaborating with the interprofessional team.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Assists team members in maintaining inventories. Monitors supplies to maintain par level. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks, minimizing incidental overtime. Utilizes time between heavy workloads efficiently and helps other team members.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Identifies and assumes responsibility of own learning needs, consults with healthcare team experts and seeks continuing education opportunities to meet those needs.
