  • Endoscopy Technologist
  • The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention.
The Endoscopy Center provides specialized diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal services utilizing advanced endoscopic technologies and procedures to support comprehensive patient care. The Endoscopy Technician plays a vital role in maintaining procedural readiness, supporting patient care activities, and ensuring compliance with infection prevention and quality standards. UT MD Anderson is internationally recognized for excellence in patient care, research, education, and prevention. The Endoscopy Technician works within the Endoscopy Center to support a multidisciplinary clinical team, while the Endoscopy Technician ensures the safe operation of equipment and procedural workflows. The Endoscopy Technician contributes to exceptional patient care through technical expertise, procedural support, and adherence to regulatory and organizational standards. The ideal candidate possesses current BLS certification and demonstrates experience supporting endoscopic procedures, scope reprocessing, infection control practices, specimen management, and quality assurance activities. Candidates who are committed to maintaining competency, supporting process improvement initiatives, and delivering safe, efficient procedural support in a fast-paced clinical environment will be well suited for this role.
  • Salary Range
  • (Hourly Equivalent Based on a 40-Hour Work Week): Minimum $23.80
  • Midpoint $29.81
  • Maximum $35.82 The typical work schedule is Monday
  • Friday, 10-hour shifts (7:00am-5:30pm, 8:00am-6:30pm, and 9:00am-5:30pm), with late shifts required.

  • Responsibilities
  • Scope Reprocessing, Infection Control & Quality Control
  • Adhere to hospital, Joint Commission, and SGNA guidelines for quality control and procedural safety
  • Observe all policies and procedures to ensure the quality and safety of the endoscopy environment for patients, families, and staff
  • Participate in continuous monitoring and quality improvement efforts
  • Complete annual competency training on scope reprocessing
  • Maintain required certifications
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance
  • Education, Documentation & Process Improvement
  • Participate in the education of self and others regarding job duties and process improvement efforts
  • Help ensure dictated reports contain necessary information for transmission through the electronic portal or health record
  • Support adherence to departmental documentation standards and quality expectations
  • Inventory & Specimen Management
  • Maintain inventory of supplies to support uninterrupted endoscopy services
  • Follow hospital laboratory protocols for collecting tissue specimens during procedures
  • Label tissue specimens accurately
  • Record specimens appropriately during all procedures
  • Endoscopy Procedures
  • Safely assist with esophagoscopy procedures
  • Safely assist with esophagogastroduodenoscopy procedures
  • Safely assist with flexible sigmoidoscopy procedures
  • Safely assist with colonoscopy procedures
  • Safely assist with small bowel enteroscopy procedures
  • Safely assist with percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placements and replacements
  • Advanced Endoscopy Procedures
  • Assist with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography under direct fluoroscopic visualization
  • Assist with endoscopic ultrasonography and fine needle aspiration under direct visualization of endoscopic ultrasonography
  • Support Cryoablation and BarrX Therapy procedures
  • Support Endoscopic Mucosal Resection and Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection procedures
  • Assist with CellVizio, Argon plasma coagulation, dilation/dilatation, Single/Double Balloon Technique, stenting, and travel cases using a mobile cart Perform other duties as assigned
  • EDUCATION
  • Required:
    High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred:
Graduation from surgical technologist program.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required:
    1 year Endoscopy experience. or
Required:
2 years Healthcare experience. or
    Required:
    Certification from an approved endoscopy education program or graduation from surgical technologist school may be substituted for required experience.
