Schedule:
36 Hrs a Week / 9 Hrs a day/4 shifts per week/No major holidays Benefits include: Tuition reimbursement, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision package, 403B plan, paid time off plan, free on-site parking, and employee retail pharmacy on site Job Summary The Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) delivers patient-centered care within the outpatient Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs. The CEP conducts clinical health assessments, designs individualized exercise prescriptions, monitors telemetry/hemodynamics during exercise, and provides risk-factor lifestyle education. This role collaborates closely with medical directors, cardiologists, pulmonologists, and registered nurses to restore patient physical function and improve quality of life. All duties are performed in alignment with AACVPR and ACSM standards Key Responsibilities 1. Clinical Assessment & Exercise Prescription Perform initial intake evaluations, including medical record reviews. Formulate data-driven Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs) with tailored exercise protocols factoring in metabolic equivalents (METs) and dyspnea scales. Re-evaluate patient progress monthly and modify training loads, durations, or modalities based on physiological adaptation. 2. Exercise Supervision & Telemetry Monitoring Conduct and supervise monitored exercise sessions featuring treadmills, upper body ergometers, and resistance equipment. Monitor continuous EKG telemetry, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and blood glucose levels. Identify cardiac arrhythmias, abnormal hemodynamic responses, or respiratory distress, and initiate emergency procedures immediately if indicated. 3. Patient Education & Case Management Lead group and individual classes on chronic disease management, including heart-healthy nutrition, smoking cessation, and breathing techniques. Provide clear instructions on rate of perceived exertion (RPE) and guidelines for independent home exercise programs upon discharge. Maintain accurate electronic medical records, secure physician signatures for billing compliance, and manage data tracking for AACVPR program recertification. Job Qualifications & Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Exercise Physiology. Master's Degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology ACSM Clinical Certification preferred Experience Minimum of 1 to 2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient cardiac or pulmonary rehab unit. Documented clinical internship hours in stress testing or telemetry monitoring are highly considered. Certifications & Licenses Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtained within 90 days of hire for both. Specialized Skills High proficiency in continuous EKG interpretation, arrhythmia recognition, and emergency medical response.
Bristol Health Mandated Educational Requirements:
General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Successfully complete all training programs as determined by Education & HRD department. Other unit based competencies / skills as required.
