FT Exercise Science Kinesiology Pre-PT Graduate for MA Position in Functional Medicine Carmel, IN 46032 From $20 an hour - Full-time From $20 an hour - Full-time Sports Medicine & Functional Medicine Medical Assistant Be Well Family Care is seeking an empathetic, hard working, patient-focused team member with a background in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Pre-Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine, or a related field to join our growing Functional and Sports Medicine practice. This unique position combines traditional medical assistant responsibilities with hands-on patient education, exercise instruction, rehabilitation support, and treatment plan implementation. The ideal candidate is passionate about movement, wellness, injury prevention, functional medicine, and helping patients achieve their health goals. Working directly alongside our physician and clinical team, this individual will play an active role in both patient care and patient education while gaining valuable experience in sports medicine, rehabilitation, and functional medicine. Primary Responsibilities Clinical Medical Assistant Duties Greet and escort patients to exam rooms. Obtain detailed medical histories and document information in the electronic medical record. Measure and record vital signs and other clinical assessments. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures. Administer injections, vaccines, and other treatments as permitted by training and licensure. Perform in-house testing such as EKGs, urinalysis, strep testing, flu testing, and other diagnostic procedures. Maintain exam room cleanliness, organization, and inventory. Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, prescription refills, and other administrative tasks. Answer and triage phone calls, portal messages, and patient questions. Sports Medicine & Functional Medicine Responsibilities Review treatment plans with patients and reinforce provider recommendations. Teach and demonstrate prescribed stretches, mobility exercises, strengthening programs, and corrective movement techniques. Educate patients on injury prevention, recovery strategies, and exercise progression. Assist with musculoskeletal evaluations and functional movement assessments. Support rehabilitation and performance-based care plans. Monitor patient progress and communicate updates to providers. Assist with body composition testing, functional assessments, and other wellness evaluations. Provide accountability and encouragement to help patients achieve health, fitness, and rehabilitation goals. Participate in patient education programs, workshops, and community events. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Pre-Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine, Health Sciences, or related field preferred. Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), Medical Assistant, Exercise Physiologist, or similar certification preferred but not required. Strong understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, exercise prescription, and human movement. Excellent communication and patient education skills. Comfortable working with patients of all ages and fitness levels. Strong attention to detail and ability to document accurately in electronic medical records. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical office environment. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn. Passionate about functional medicine, wellness, sports medicine, rehabilitation, and preventative healthcare.
