Job Description

About Our Practice The Bariatric Medicine Institute is a physician-owned obesity medicine practice providing comprehensive, evidence-based medical weight loss care. We treat obesity as a chronic, multifactorial disease using lifestyle therapy, pharmacotherapy, and coordinated care. This is not a gym environment. This is a medical setting. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced fitness professional to provide individualized exercise programming for adults with obesity, metabolic disease, and deconditioning.
This Role Requires:
Conservative programming Clinical awareness Joint-protective exercise design Professional communication within a physician-led practice
Required Qualifications:
(One of the Following) Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field OR 2+ years full-time experience training overweight/obese adults OR Background in medical fitness, PT aide, cardiac rehab, or similarRequired Competencies Experience with deconditioned beginners Familiarity with metabolic disease (T2DM, insulin resistance, hypertension) Comfort working with patients on GLP‑1 or anti-obesity medications Professional documentation habits Weight-neutral communication style
This Role Is Not For:
Bootcamp-style trainers Physique-focused coaching High-intensity-only programming "No pain, no gain" philosophy Shame-based motivation Compensation Competitive and commensurate with medical integration experience. Compensation reflects independent decision-making and professional responsibility within a physician-led practice. Hiring a Personal Trainer Medically Integrated Obesity Care Model This is not a gym trainer role. This is a medically aligned position inside an obesity medicine practice.
Must Demonstrate:
Clinical awareness Conservative programming judgment Experience with overweight and obese adults Joint‑protective movement design Psychological sensitivity Clear scope boundaries We are hiring an extension of medical care — not a fitness personality.
Automatic Disqualifiers:
Less than 1 year of experience Only group fitness background No experience with chronic disease Bootcamp/high-intensity-only coaching style This is risk control — not elitism

From $25.00 per hour
