Job Description

Strength and Conditioning Specialist AthleX - 5.0 Austin, TX Job Details Full-time $51 - $65 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Customer relationship building Customer retention Physical Therapy Athletic Training Physical therapy Full Job Description AthleX is not a traditional gym and not a physical therapy clinic. We bridge the gap between rehab and high-performance training. We take clients who are stuck after PT and prepare them to return to sport with strength, confidence, and resilience. We are building one of the highest-level rehab-to-performance systems in Austin. We only hire coaches who can operate at that standard. If you're looking for a low-effort coaching job, this is not it.
Who This Is For You:
Understand that rehab alone is not enough Believe strength training is essential, not optional Can coach someone from pain → performance, not just "keep them moving" Are comfortable loading clients progressively and intelligently Can communicate clearly with high-performing adults Who This Is NOT For Do not apply if: You rely on passive treatments only (massage, modalities, etc.) You avoid loading clients because of fear of injury You follow cookie-cutter programs You struggle to communicate with demanding clients You are looking for a part-time "easy" role Your Role Deliver 1:1 sessions blending: Strength training Corrective exercise Performance development Progress clients from: Pain or post-rehab → high-level training Use data and objective feedback (not guesswork) Build long-term client relationships (retention matters) Collaborate with the AthleX system, not freelance your own philosophy What Matters Most Coaching skill > certifications Decision-making > memorized protocols Communication > charisma Progression strategy > exercise variety Minimum Requirements Background in: Exercise Physiology, Strength & Conditioning, Athletic Training or Physical Therapy Experience working with Injured or post-rehab clients Strong understanding of Progressive loading, Movement assessment and Strength training principles Preferred (But Not Required) Experience bridging rehab into performance training Comfort using technology/data in sessions Personal commitment to strength training Compensation & Growth Competitive pay based on experience and performance Opportunity to grow within a premium, performance-driven brand Access to AthleX systems, methodology, and client base
Pay:
$51.00 - $65.00 per hour Application Question(s): How do you progress a client from pain or post-rehab into high-level strength training? At what point do you decide to push a client harder vs hold them back? Do you currently follow a structured strength training program yourself? If yes, briefly describe it. Describe a situation where a client was not progressing. What did you change? A client has completed physical therapy but still lacks confidence in their movement. What is your approach?
