Job Summary Exercise Physiologists will evaluate a patient's medical history to determine the best possible individualized exercise program and education needed Reports to: Job Specific Responsibilities Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
- Administer exercise and/or fitness tests
- Assist with training, supervision, orientation, and mentorship of new staff including Exercise Specialists and Fitness Specialists.
- All other assigned duties related to Cardiopulmonary testing, rehabilitation, and Medical Fitness
- Complete documentation of daily patients/clients, charges, and updating of treatment plans and individual programs.
- Coordinate with student interns and provide education/mentorship
- Educate patients regarding their injuries or health condition, and the impact to their overall body performance, and how to stay healthy
- Evaluate muscle function including strength and power using a variety of resistance devices and specialized assessment equipment.
Cardiac Rehab Specific:
- Independently evaluate referred patients to qualify them for program participation factoring in inclusion/exclusion criteria and clinical safety.
- Establish and individualized treatment plan based on patient assessment, exercise and behavioral goals and treatment plans
- Supervise rehabilitation programming to assure each patient is performing appropriately for the ultimate goal of secondary prevention
Medical Fitness Specific:
- Lead the Medical Fitness programs and the implementation of education/structure of exercise classes
- Supervise group exercise classes and personal training schedules
- Utilize the technology (my wellness/club management) available to improve the member's experience.
- Prepare fitness profile reports and assist in the development of customized participant exercise programs. Education and Experience
- Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or related field of study + 1 year of experience OR
- Bachelor's degree + 3 years relevant experience Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
- Current BLS- Basic Life Skills Certification
- AED Training required within 90 days of hire into the role
- ACLS certification required within 12 months of hire into the role Skills and Abilities
- Cardiac Rehab or Medical Fitness certification a plus (ie.
ACSM,CEP, NSCA, CSCS, AACVPR, CCRP, ACSM CPT, ACSM EP-C, NASM CPT
)- Be able to make independent judgement decisions
- Knowledge of indications/contradictions for exercise and pharmacological stress testing/termination is helpful
- Possess a high degree of accuracy in executing fitness prescriptions, receiving and translating information, evaluating results, charting, and reporting
- Able to effectively communicate and exercise acceptable interpersonal relationship skills with patients, physicians, staff, and visitors
- (Medical Fitness Specific) Be effective in our goal to convert users of our programs into members
- Possess a high degree of accuracy in executing fitness prescriptions, receiving and translating information, evaluating results, charting, and reporting
- Ability to operate various fitness tools and equipment such as resistance tubes/bands, strength machines, cardio machines, kettlebells, fitness weights, exercise balls, TRX, etc...
- Must be able to apply the theory of cardiac pulmonary medicine under the guidelines of American Association of Cardiovascular Pulmonary Rehabilitation & American College of Sports Medicine Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships The Exercise Physiologist will need to carry out close working relationships with many people including but not limited to the Supervisor, Director, IP/OP Managers, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Receptionist, Respiratory Therapist, Physicians, Nurse Managers, Nursing Staff, Social Services/Case Workers, support personnel, and most importantly patients and their family members or caregivers.
