Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Associate Marriage and Family Therapist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will deliver evidence-based substance use disorder treatment and mental health counseling and family therapy to an adult population, including consumers with criminal justice involvement and/or are seeking SUD treatment through self-referral. Consumers may be insured through Medi-Cal or commercial insurance in-network plans. Under the remote supervision of a licensed MFT, and in coordination with an onsite Program Director, your role as the agency's LPHA and clinical expertise will help clients navigate complex emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges through personalized treatment plans, crisis intervention, and ongoing case management. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing your clinical skills in a supportive setting. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations using ASAM criteria, clinical documentation standards and medical terminology. Develop and/or authorize consumer treatment plans for SUD registered and certified counselors. May provide individual, group, couples, and family therapy utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA). Implement counseling interventions tailored to clients' needs, including crisis management and crisis intervention strategies. Engage in patient care activities such as data collection, clinical documentation, medical records maintenance, and adherence to HIPAA regulations, within an electronic health record system (Kipu) . Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on case management plans to support clients' SUD treatment and co-occurring mental health goals within home and community care settings. May utilize telehealth platforms effectively to deliver clinical counseling services remotely while maintaining high-quality patient assessment standards. Document all clinical encounters thoroughly in our electronic health record system in accordance with clinical ethical guidelines and medical documentation standards. Requirements Master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or related field from an accredited program. Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist or equivalent credential in California. Experience working with adult individuals diagnosed with substance use disorders and/or with co-occurring mental health disorders. Proficiency in counseling interventions such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and behavioral management techniques. Strong skills in crisis intervention, crisis management, and PTSD care strategies. Ability to work effectively and openly with a treatment team of SUD counselors Knowledge of healthcare diagnosis codes (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding for billing purposes, and familiarity with medical terminology. Ability to adhere to clinical research standards while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA regulations.
