GED Full Job Description Summary:
As an ABA/Behavior Therapist, you are to utilize the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with clients. The therapist will work to motivate the client through positive reinforcement of good behaviors and ignoring unwanted behaviors. While learning what the client likes and dislikes through a process called "pairing", the therapist will use these preferred items or activities to encourage the client to perform wanted behaviors or answers. During this process, the therapist should be noticing what is the function of the client's behaviors. Discrete Trial Training (DTT) is another part of ABA therapy which is used to help clients identify, label and differentiate between different items or objects. Through this method of ABA therapy, the client should increase their ability to communicate and socialize while decreasing unwanted behaviors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Create a fun and supportive ABA Therapy environment for children with special needs Implement ABA Therapy programs and behavior interventions as designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Provide instruction and support to the child, as well as to siblings and parents Promote the development of functional communication skills (i.e. speaking, using assistive communication devices, using sign language) Support the child's independence with adaptive living skills (daily routines) Collect data and track the child's progress over time Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings Maintain 85% attendance
Qualifications:
Minimum Educational Requirement:
High School Diploma TB and Fingerprint Clearance At least 18
Years of Age Availability:
Monday-Friday between the hours of 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Part-Time Availability) Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Highly Preferred Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
