Play Therapist Heal Grow Thrive Miramar, FL Job Details Full-time | Contract 1 day ago Qualifications Play therapy Working with children Bachelor's degree Child & youth therapy Full Job Description Overview Heal Grow Thrive is seeking a creative, compassionate, and dedicated Bachelor's-level Play Therapist with experience working with children and adolescents in behavioral health settings. This role focuses on using developmentally appropriate, play-based therapeutic interventions to support emotional expression, behavioral regulation, trauma recovery, social development, and healthy coping skills in youth. The ideal candidate is experienced in working with children presenting with behavioral and emotional challenges, including ADHD, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, oppositional behaviors, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and emotional dysregulation. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, intake interviews, and behavioral evaluations while utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to accurately document clinical findings and treatment progress. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based play therapy approaches alongside modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), art therapy, sand tray therapy, mindfulness techniques, and behavioral interventions. Provide direct therapeutic services through individual and group play therapy sessions focused on emotional regulation, social skills development, trauma processing, self-esteem building, grief support, and behavioral stabilization. Utilize therapeutic play techniques including imaginative play, role-play, expressive arts, sensory activities, and structured therapeutic games to promote emotional growth and communication. Facilitate crisis intervention and behavioral management strategies to ensure client safety and emotional stabilization during acute behavioral or emotional episodes. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, schools, and caregivers to coordinate case management efforts and support continuity of care in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Maintain accurate clinical documentation, progress notes, treatment plans, and medical records using appropriate medical terminology and CPT coding standards. Utilize telehealth platforms when appropriate to provide virtual therapeutic support while maintaining confidentiality and quality patient care. Support children with developmental disabilities, ASD, trauma histories, or emotional and behavioral disorders using individualized therapeutic interventions tailored to developmental needs. Participate in ongoing staff development, clinical supervision, training opportunities, and program improvement initiatives to enhance therapeutic outcomes and service delivery. Experience Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, child development, behavioral health, or a related field from an accredited institution. Prior experience working with children, adolescents, or individuals with developmental or behavioral challenges in outpatient, school-based, community, or behavioral health settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of play therapy techniques and child-centered therapeutic approaches strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience utilizing evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as CBT, behavioral interventions, trauma-informed care, or expressive therapies. Experience with crisis intervention, behavioral management, and emotional de-escalation techniques. Familiarity with
ICD-9/ICD-10
diagnostic coding and medical documentation practices preferred. Telehealth experience is advantageous, with the ability to adapt child-focused interventions for virtual settings. Strong understanding of child development, emotional regulation, behavioral health conditions, and family systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with children, adolescents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams.
