POSITION SUMMARY
The Mobile Crisis Therapist II provides advanced community-based crisis assessment, intervention, and stabilization services for individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies. Services are delivered in homes, schools, hospitals, shelters, and other community settings, and may also be provided through telehealth when appropriate. This position functions as a senior clinician on the mobile crisis team and collaborates closely with the broader crisis continuum of care to ensure timely assessment, coordinated recommendations, and access to appropriate services. Services may include brief individual, family, or group therapy and collaborative treatment planning as clinically appropriate during crisis stabilization and follow up. All services are delivered using trauma informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered practices with a focus on safety, dignity, and least restrictive care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver advanced mobile behavioral health crisis services including de-escalation, safety planning, stabilization, and functional support to reduce unnecessary emergency department visits, hospitalization, and legal involvement. Conduct comprehensive crisis, diagnostic, and risk assessments in the community and determine appropriate levels of care, including for individuals with OUD and co-occurring disorders. Provide brief individual, family, or group therapeutic interventions and independently develop crisis care plans or initial treatment plans as clinically appropriate. Provide clinical consultation, guidance, and support to Mobile Crisis Therapist I, peer support staff, and other team members as needed. Collaborate with the Mobile Crisis Peer Support Specialist and other team members to ensure coordinated care planning and service delivery. Coordinate with law enforcement, healthcare providers, schools, DCBS, hospitals, jails, courts, and community organizations to resolve crises and facilitate access to appropriate resources. Provide consultation, education, and collaborative problem solving with community partners related to crisis response and behavioral health care. Develop individualized crisis plans that focus on least restrictive interventions and promote recovery-oriented care. Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality documentation of all client contacts, assessments, interventions, and referrals in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards. Participate in quality improvement activities, program development, and advanced training related to crisis intervention and evidence-based practices. Provide clinical leadership during complex or high-risk cases and serve as a resource for the crisis team. Work alternate schedules and participate in on call coverage as needed to meet 24/7 program needs. QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited program Active, unrestricted independent licensure in the state as an LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, Psychologist, or equivalent Demonstrated ability to independently conduct clinical and risk assessments and provide appropriate crisis intervention services Experience providing clinical guidance, consultation, or informal leadership within a crisis or emergency services setting preferred Strong knowledge of crisis intervention principles, suicide risk assessment, and trauma informed care Strong verbal communication, written documentation, and clinical decision-making skills Strong clinical judgment, documentation skills, and ability to support staff in high acuity environments
JOB REQUIREMENTS / EXPECTATIONS
Ability to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer for clinical documentation. Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout a variety of service environments as required. May require transporting individuals as part of job duties and must maintain a valid driver's license and active insurance if applicable. Work is performed in variable environments that may involve exposure to individuals in acute emotional distress. Crisis services operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Work hours may be irregular and may include evenings, weekends, holidays, overnight shifts, and on call responsibilities based on operational and coverage needs. Performance is evaluated through clinical supervision, documentation reviews, quality assurance measures, productivity standards, and achievement of departmental and agency goals.
