Job Description

Department Clinical Services Reports To Director of Clinical Services & Compliance Clinical Supervisor Position Summary The 2nd Shift Mental Health/Substance Abuse Therapist provides comprehensive, evidence-based clinical services to adults receiving care in both Residential Treatment (RTC) and Outpatient (OP) levels of care. This role is responsible for facilitating group therapy , providing individual counseling , completing clinical assessments , developing and updating individualized treatment plans , and maintaining timely, compliant documentation in accordance with ASAM Criteria , Kentucky AODE regulations , Medicaid requirements , and Joint Commission standards . This position ensures continuity of care across programs during evening hours and supports clinical operations at multiple sites. Work Schedule 2nd

) Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities Facilitate therapeutic group sessions for RTC and OP clients using evidence-based, trauma-informed practices. Provide individual therapy sessions consistent with treatment plans and medical necessity. Complete biopsychosocial assessments , clinical updates, and reassessments as required. Develop, implement, and revise Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs) in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Utilize ASAM Dimensions to inform level-of-care decisions and ongoing clinical recommendations. Participate in admissions , intake evaluations, and clinical screenings as assigned. Provide clinical support and intervention during evening hours, including managing emergent client needs. Documentation & Compliance Complete all clinical documentation accurately and within required timelines. Ensure documentation supports medical necessity , utilization review, and payer requirements. Maintain compliance with Kentucky AODE , Medicaid MCO , and Joint Commission standards. Participate in chart audits, peer reviews, and quality-improvement activities. Collaboration & Program Support Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, case management, peer support, and leadership. Communicate effectively during shift transitions to ensure continuity of care. Assist with program coverage and clinical operations as needed. Attend required supervision, staff meetings, and trainings. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field. Current Kentucky licensure or licensure-eligible status (LPCA, LPCC, CSW, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent). Experience providing mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment preferred. Knowledge of co-occurring disorders, trauma-informed care, and recovery-oriented practices. Ability to work evening hours across multiple levels of care and locations. Preferred Qualifications Experience in Residential Treatment (RTC) and Outpatient (OP) settings. Familiarity with ASAM Criteria and Medicaid documentation standards. Experience using electronic medical record systems (KIPU preferred). Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout clinical settings. Ability to manage emotionally demanding clinical situations. Must maintain professional boundaries and ethical conduct at all times.
