Job Description
GLAD House is dedicated to providing a safe providing a safe and therapeutic community to empower families to break the cycle of addiction. Champs is an after school and summer program that provides mental health and alcohol and drug prevention services to children impacted by addiction in their homes.
Position Summary:
The Outreach Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing quality individual, and family therapy to clients in the Champs Program. The Outreach Mental Health Therapist ensures the completion and consistency of assessments into GLAD House programming. This position is responsible for providing support to new program development, such as developing services to increase family engagement and fostering relationships with referral agencies in the community. Qualifications, Skills and Certifications preferred: Masters in Social Work, Counseling or Related Social Science degree and appropriate state licensure required (LISW or LPCC, LSW or LPC). LISW S or LPCC S preferred. One to three years experience with mental health counseling of children preferred. Certified in CPR and First Aid. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Electronic Health Record Systems. Position requires frequent driving of own vehicle. Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance which meets state minimum requirements required. Responsibilities and Specific Duties- Provide individual and family therapy utilizing best practice models and age appropriate materials and techniques.
- Collaborate with client's caregivers or guardians on therapeutic goals. Communicates with key family members regularly.
- Mainly responsible for completing Diagnostic Assessments and with Clinical Director or Champs Program Director when there is a waitlist(analyze clinical DAFs and utilize signs and symptoms standards to develop a working diagnosis on clients in accordance with the DSM-5).
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of Individualized Treatment Plans. Ensures that Individualized Treatment Plans are in compliance with all regulatory standards.
- With Strategic Planning Committee, assist in collecting data and resources (staffing needs, curriculum, materials, etc.) necessary for new program development and monitor progress with strategic plan on the dashboard.
- Explain GLAD House services to guardians when they are referred by other agencies to increase their understanding of the Champs Program.
- With assistance from the Lead Champs Program Assistant, collaborate with important collateral contacts, such as school staff, HCDJFS workers, Guardian Ad Litems, doctors and CASA workers.
- With Program Director and Clinical Director educate community members on GLAD House services through participation in various events, such as meetings, trainings, or service fairs, to increase referrals to programming.
- Identify needs of parents and recommend services and make outside referrals to meet their parental needs and increase family engagement.
- Ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely manner and accurately reflects client progress.
- Ensure that documentation describes the treatment process including therapeutic interventions and the client's response to these interventions.
- Ensure required assessment tools are completed and incorporated into the treatment process.
- Demonstrate support for the agency mission, goals and objectives.
- Adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
- Prepare for and attend all clinical, staff and supervision meetings.
- Maintain current licensures and certifications.
