Position:
Recreation Therapist Shift:
7:00AM-3:30PM or 8:00AM-4:30PM, 40 Hours a week, 80 hours per pay period

Upper Valley Medical Center The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is re sponsible for establishing, coordinating, organizing, and implementing a balanced recreation therapy program based on the specific ages, needs, and treatment issues of the patients served. Responsible to make professional decisions to ensure patient safety during recreation therapy and experiential therapy groups, including knowledge of, and proper use and maintenance of, recreational and experiential equipment and the purchasing of supplies. Also responsible to maintain knowledge of current inventory and professional trends and to maintain national level professional certification or state level registration. The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is under direct supervision of the clinical coordinator. Education - Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation or in recreation with a therapeutic emphasis required. Masters preferred. Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (C.T.R.S.) and/or Ohio registration as Recreation Therapy Consultant or Therapist (R.R.T.C. or R.T.R.) required. Previous inpatient, adult, or adolescent / child experience preferred. Prefer knowledge of mental health and chemical dependency treatment. Experiential therapy or education experience preferred. Must possess or be eligible for a State of Ohio driver's license. Certification in
CPR & CPI
required.
