Job Description

UPMC's Integrated Advanced Care Providers are looking for a Behavioral Health Therapist II to join the team at the Neurology Department in Oakland! The Behavioral Health Therapist will work alongside our Psychiatrist to assist patients with a wide range of neurological disorders and behavioral health needs including anxiety and depression.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintains daily records of clinical productivity as instructed.
  • Provides individual and group therapy in home, school, and community settings; engages families in assessment and treatment; educates patients on recovery as appropriate.
  • Participates in regular treatment team meetings to discuss cases, update treatment plans, monitor progress, and recommend referrals and continuing care.
  • Utilizes relevant, evidence-based treatment approaches as appropriate.
  • Conducts new patient assessments using required formats and makes clinical decisions regarding treatment, interventions, and referrals.
  • Develops and adapts treatment concepts, models, and approaches to meet patient needs.
  • Creates comprehensive treatment plans addressing a wide range of patient needs and levels of care.
  • Participates in ongoing regulatory and licensure preparation activities.
  • Manages administrative responsibilities independently with minimal supervision, including caseload and census management.
  • Documents all clinical work according to established guidelines.
  • Continuously develops clinical skills and implements new treatment approaches.
  • Reviews cases, groups, and significant patient condition changes with supervisors and clinical staff as needed.
  • Completes same-day clinical documentation and provides necessary information to patient access staff and insurance providers.
  • Participates in mentoring student interns.
  • Engages in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
  • Assesses and responds to changing patient needs across outpatient, partial hospitalization, community, and school-based services.
  • Collaborates with the clinical team to recommend additional services and refers patients to appropriate levels of care and community resources.
