About the Program The Psychotherapist Leadership Training Program at Dove Counseling Services is an intensive, hands-on development track designed for early-career clinicians who want to grow into confident, skilled, and independent psychotherapists within a private practice setting. This is not a typical entry-level role — it's a structured, high-support training experience designed to accelerate your development as a clinician. Over the course of the program, clinicians receive direct mentorship, practical training, and real client experience while building toward a sustainable, full caseload. We are intentionally keeping this program selective to ensure each clinician receives individualized support and mentorship. About Us Dove Counseling Services is a growing private practice in Eatontown, NJ focused on providing thoughtful, compassionate psychotherapy to individuals, children, teens, couples, and families. Program Structure:
3-Month Clinical Development Timeline Month 1: Foundation & Supported Entry Gradual onboarding into clinical work Shadowing, observation, and guided session support Training on documentation, treatment planning, and workflow systems Introduction to private practice operations (insurance, scheduling, caseload management) Begin building initial caseload at a supported pace Focus on building confidence, structure, and comfort in the clinical setting Month 2: Skill Development & Clinical Confidence Increased independence in sessions with ongoing support Focus on clinical decision-making, interventions, and session structure Support with client retention, engagement, and therapeutic rapport Continued mentorship and weekly supervision Caseload continues to build Emphasis on consistency, client retention, and strengthening therapeutic presence Month 3: Transition to Independent Clinician Move toward managing a more consistent caseload (~20-25 sessions/week) Greater autonomy in clinical work and scheduling Refinement of clinical voice and areas of interest Opportunities to begin exploring group work or specialty areas Preparation for sustaining a full caseload with increasing autonomy Beyond the Program Clinicians transition into a full-time therapist role within the practice following successful completion of the program, with continued support, mentorship, and opportunities for growth, including: Group therapy leadership Program development Experiential and community-based therapy work The Role (During & After Training) Provide individual, family, and/or couples therapy (in-person and virtual) Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans Maintain timely and accurate documentation Manage caseload and scheduling independently (with support during training) Participate in weekly supervision (primarily in-person) Collaborate with families, schools, and other providers when appropriate Bonus (Not Required, But Valued) Experience with children, teens, or Autism Spectrum populations Interest in group therapy or program development Interest in experiential or community-based therapy, including opportunities to lead individual and group sessions through partnerships (e.g., paddleboarding) and curated community experiences (cat cafés, pottery studios, etc.), all as part of compensated clinical work Schedule Expectations Ability to work at least 2 in-person days per week in Eatontown Remaining sessions may be conducted virtually Caseload is built gradually over ~3 months as part of the training program Compensation & Structure $50-$55 per session hour (starting rate) Pay-per-session model, allowing you to scale your income based on your caseload (for example, 35 sessions/week equates to approximately $1,750/week, ~$7,000/month, or ~$84,000/year at the $50 starting rate) Opportunity for long-term growth into leadership roles within the organization, with additional compensation beyond per-session pay Clinical supervision included toward LCSW hours Hybrid flexibility (in-person + telehealth) Build your own schedule Clear pathway to building a full caseload and a long-term role within the practice 1099 contractor position, offering increased earning potential and flexibility compared to traditional W-2 roles Why Join This Program This is a strong fit for someone who wants: Structured, real-world training (not trial-by-fire) Support while still building independence A clear path from new clinician → confident therapist A collaborative, growth-oriented team environment Clinical supervision included toward LCSW hours (a benefit that can typically cost $150+ per session, equating to approximately $7,500+ annually) Benefits & Additional Considerations This is a 1099 contractor position, meaning clinicians are responsible for managing their own taxes and benefits. Because this role does not include employer-sponsored health insurance, some clinicians may be eligible for New Jersey's dependent coverage extension (often referred to as the "Under 31" option), depending on eligibility.
