Faith-based care is intended to be supportive and voluntary and should never replace appropriate clinical assessment, evidence-based treatment, or medically necessary care. Position Overview Rooted Health is seeking a licensed mental health therapist with specialized training and experience in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to join our practice as an independent 1099 contractor. The ideal therapist will have a strong understanding of trauma-informed care and be comfortable working with patients experiencing trauma-related symptoms, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship concerns, and other behavioral-health needs. The therapist should be compassionate, professional, clinically independent, and aligned with Rooted Health's philosophy of treating the whole person. Primary Responsibilities The contracted therapist may provide: Individual psychotherapy EMDR therapy Trauma-informed psychotherapy Assessment and treatment planning within the therapist's scope of practice Treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, and life-transition concerns Support for patients experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges associated with chronic health conditions Faith-integrated counseling when requested by the patient and within the therapist's professional scope Coordination of care with Rooted Health providers when clinically appropriate and authorized by the patient Appropriate documentation of services Maintenance of appropriate clinical records Timely completion of treatment notes and required documentation Appropriate referrals when a patient's needs exceed the therapist's scope of practice Participation in collaborative care when clinically appropriate EMDR Specialty EMDR experience is strongly preferred and is a primary focus of this position.

The preferred candidate will have:

Formal EMDR training through a recognized training program Experience providing EMDR to appropriate patients Knowledge of trauma-informed treatment principles Understanding of appropriate EMDR screening, preparation, stabilization, and treatment protocols Ability to determine when EMDR is clinically appropriate Ability to recognize when a patient requires a higher level of behavioral-health care Current knowledge of applicable professional standards and ethical requirements EMDR certification or EMDRIA-related training/credentialing is preferred when applicable to the therapist's professional discipline. Faith-Based Care Rooted Health is a Christian, faith-based practice . The therapist should be comfortable practicing within a faith-based healthcare environment and supporting the clinic's mission of whole-person care. Faith may be incorporated into counseling only when clinically appropriate and desired by the patient . This may include prayer, Scripture, Christian counseling principles, or discussion of spiritual concerns when requested by the patient and consistent with the therapist's professional standards. The therapist is expected to respect patient autonomy and should not impose religious beliefs or practices on patients. Professional Requirements The contractor must maintain, as applicable: Current unrestricted Arkansas professional license appropriate to the services provided Professional liability/malpractice insurance NPI Appropriate professional credentials and certifications EMDR training or demonstrated EMDR competency Current CPR/BLS certification if required by the practice or scope of services Compliance with applicable federal and Arkansas laws and regulations Compliance with applicable professional licensing-board requirements Compliance with HIPAA and applicable privacy regulations Completion of required credentialing documentation The contractor is responsible for maintaining all licenses, certifications, registrations, and professional insurance necessary to provide services. Independent Contractor Status This position is intended to be an independent contractor relationship and not an employer-employee relationship . The therapist will be responsible for: Federal and state income taxes Self-employment taxes Professional licensing fees Professional liability insurance Continuing education Maintaining required credentials Business expenses associated with independent practice, unless otherwise specifically agreed upon in writing The contractor is responsible for determining how services are performed within applicable professional, legal, ethical, and clinical requirements. Nothing in this position description is intended to create an employment relationship, partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship between Rooted Health and the contractor. Compensation Compensation will be established through a separate independent contractor agreement. The agreement may specify compensation based upon: Completed patient sessions EMDR sessions Other approved clinical services Insurance reimbursement arrangements Private-pay services Other mutually agreed compensation structures Payment terms, cancellation policies, documentation requirements, credentialing requirements, and other financial arrangements will be established in the contractor agreement. Scheduling The contractor will maintain clinical availability according to mutually agreed-upon scheduling arrangements. Because the contractor is independently responsible for providing professional services, the contractor will maintain appropriate control over their professional clinical judgment and manner of treatment, subject to applicable law, ethical standards, patient safety requirements, and agreed-upon practice policies. Clinical Independence The therapist maintains independent professional judgment regarding: Diagnosis Treatment planning Clinical interventions Appropriateness of EMDR Frequency and duration of therapy Referrals Termination of treatment The therapist will practice within the therapist's education, training, license, and professional scope. Patient Safety Patient safety is a priority. The contractor must appropriately assess and respond to clinical situations involving, when applicable: Suicidal ideation Homicidal ideation Abuse or neglect Acute psychiatric symptoms Psychosis Substance-use concerns Medical emergencies Need for higher levels of behavioral-health care The therapist must utilize appropriate emergency procedures and referrals when a patient's needs exceed the services available through Rooted Health. Documentation Clinical documentation must be completed accurately and within the timeframes established by Rooted Health and applicable payer, legal, and professional requirements.

Documentation may include:

Initial evaluation Treatment plan Progress notes EMDR treatment documentation Diagnosis and medical necessity documentation when applicable Risk assessments Referrals Discharge documentation Documentation must support the services actually provided and must never be falsified or altered in a misleading manner. Confidentiality The contractor agrees to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patient information and Rooted Health business information.

The contractor must comply with:

HIPAA Applicable state privacy laws Professional ethical requirements Rooted Health confidentiality policies Applicable data-security requirements Professional Conduct The contractor is expected to maintain a professional, respectful, compassionate, and patient-centered approach.

The therapist must:

Maintain appropriate professional boundaries Protect patient confidentiality Avoid conflicts of interest Maintain appropriate documentation Practice within professional scope Follow applicable ethical standards Communicate appropriately with Rooted Health personnel Treat patients with dignity and respect Preferred Candidate The ideal candidate will be: A licensed mental health professional in good standing Experienced in trauma-informed psychotherapy Specifically trained in EMDR Comfortable treating adults and/or adolescents within their scope Comfortable working in a collaborative medical practice Comfortable with telehealth when applicable Supportive of whole-person healthcare Comfortable working within a Christian, faith-based practice Compassionate, dependable, and clinically thoughtful Committed to evidence-informed behavioral healthcare Disclaimer This position description describes the general nature and expectations of the independent contractor relationship.
