Full-Time Position Summary The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) provides mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families through a variety of community-based and outpatient programs. The QMHP is responsible for providing clinically appropriate, person-centered services while supporting individuals in developing coping skills, improving daily functioning, strengthening relationships, and working toward identified treatment goals. Services may be provided at the agency's main location, in the community, in the home, at school, or in other approved service settings depending on the individual's treatment needs and program requirements. The QMHP is expected to maintain professional documentation, communicate effectively with the treatment team, participate in required meetings and trainings, and follow all agency, licensing, Medicaid, and regulatory requirements. Services Provided The QMHP may provide services through the agency's programs, including: Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) Mental Health Skill-Building Services (MHSS) Intensive In-Home (IIH) Services Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) Outpatient Mental Health Services Other behavioral health services as assigned and within the QMHP's qualifications and scope of practice. Essential Job Duties1. Client Services Provide direct mental health services to assigned clients. Develop positive, professional relationships with clients and families. Assist clients in identifying and working toward individualized treatment goals. Teach and reinforce coping, communication, social, behavioral, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and independent living skills. Provide interventions consistent with the client's treatment plan. Support clients in improving functioning at home, school, work, and in the community. Monitor client progress and communicate changes in functioning to the appropriate clinical staff. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients and families. 2. Adult Services The QMHP may provide services to adults who attend programming at the agency's main location. Adults are generally available at the main building during the designated programming period, Monday through Thursday, approximately 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.The QMHP is expected to:
Ensure clients attend the main location during assigned programming hours. Engage with assigned adult clients who are present in the building, including facilitating PSR when applicable. Provide scheduled services and interventions. Conduct skill-building activities and therapeutic interventions. Monitor participation and progress. Complete required documentation following each service. Coordinate with other staff members regarding client needs. Identify additional service needs or concerns and communicate them to the appropriate supervisor. When appropriate and authorized, assist clients in transitioning from PSR to MHSS services based on their individual needs and treatment plans. QMHPs should not be expected to spend unnecessary time searching for adult clients when assigned clients are already participating at the main location. 3. Children's Services The QMHP may provide services to children and adolescents through TDT, IIH, outpatient, and other approved programs.Responsibilities may include:
Coordinating services with schools, parents/guardians, and treatment team members. Picking up assigned children from school when transportation is part of the client's approved service. Providing services approximately 3-5 days per week , based on the child's schedule and authorized services. Bringing children to the agency's main location when appropriate. Providing scheduled therapeutic and skill-building services. Providing transportation home after the session when required and approved. Communicating with parents/guardians regarding appropriate service-related information. Documenting services, progress, interventions, and transportation as required. 4. Treatment Planning and Client Progress Review each client's treatment plan and authorized services. Provide services according to the established treatment plan. Monitor progress toward treatment goals and objectives. Identify barriers that may interfere with treatment progress. Report significant changes in behavior, functioning, safety, or mental health status. Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with other providers when appropriate. Recommend changes in services when clinically appropriate and communicate recommendations to the supervisor. 5.BIRP/BIRD
Documentation The QMHP is responsible for completing required documentation accurately and within agency-established timeframes.Documentation should clearly reflect:

Accurate Objective Timely Clinically appropriate Consistent with the treatment plan Reflective of the actual service provided Completed according to agency and regulatory requirements 6. Quarterly Reviews and Required Reports The QMHP is responsible for maintaining awareness of all quarterly review/report due dates for assigned clients.Responsibilities include:
Maintain an organized calendar or tracking system for all quarterly review due dates. Monitor upcoming deadlines and begin preparation in advance. Complete quarterly reviews, progress reports, and other required clinical/service documentation by the established due date. Ensure quarterly documentation accurately reflects the client's progress, current needs, goals, interventions, barriers, and recommendations. Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with the client's treatment plan. Submit completed quarterly documentation to the appropriate supervisor or designated staff member on or before the required deadline . Make corrections or revisions promptly when requested by the supervisor, auditor, or clinical staff. Maintain copies or appropriate records of submitted documentation according to agency policy. Immediately communicate any anticipated difficulty meeting a deadline to the supervisor. Remain responsible for tracking assigned quarterly deadlines rather than relying solely on reminders from supervisors. Meeting quarterly deadlines is an essential job responsibility. Repeated late, incomplete, or missing quarterly documentation may result in corrective action in accordance with agency policy. 7. Transportation When transportation is an approved component of the client's service, the QMHP may be responsible for: Picking children up from school. Transporting clients to the agency's main location. Providing transportation home following services. Following all agency transportation policies. Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries while transporting clients. Ensuring client safety during transportation. Completing required transportation documentation. 8. Meetings and Training The QMHP is required to participate in agency meetings and training, including: Monthly staff/clinical meetings Training every Wednesday Case consultations Treatment team meetings Required supervision Program-specific training Mandatory compliance and regulatory training Attendance and participation in required meetings and training are considered an essential part of the position. 9. Communication and Teamwork Maintain regular communication with supervisors and other members of the treatment team. Communicate client concerns promptly. Participate in case coordination. Maintain appropriate communication with parents, guardians, schools, and other authorized providers. Respond professionally to questions and concerns. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency policies. 10. Safety and Crisis Responsibilities Recognize signs of emotional or behavioral crisis. Follow agency crisis and emergency procedures. Report safety concerns immediately. Follow mandated reporting requirements. Document significant incidents according to agency policy. Seek supervisory assistance when a situation exceeds the QMHP's role or requires additional clinical intervention. General Work Expectations The QMHP is expected to maintain a flexible schedule based on client needs and authorized services. The position may involve working at: Agency/main office Client homes Schools Community settings Other approved service locations The QMHP should be prepared to work with both adults and children , depending on program assignment and client needs. The QMHP should use scheduled work hours productively by providing direct services, completing documentation, coordinating care, attending required meetings/training, preparing for sessions, tracking quarterly deadlines, and following up on client needs. Qualifications Current QMHP qualification in accordance with Virginia requirements. Bachelor's or master's degree in an applicable human services, behavioral health, psychology, social work, counseling, or related field, as required for the applicable QMHP designation. Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health, behavioral, emotional, or developmental challenges preferred. Experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and/or families preferred. Ability to complete timely and accurate clinical/service documentation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation when transportation duties are assigned. Ability to successfully complete required background checks and agency requirements.Professional Standards The QMHP must:

Follow applicable Virginia behavioral health regulations and payer requirements. Maintain professional boundaries. Provide services ethically and without discrimination. Complete daily documentation and quarterly reviews accurately and on time. Maintain required credentials and training. Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and professionalism. Take responsibility for knowing and meeting all assigned documentation deadlines. Overall Goal of the Position The overall goal of the QMHP position is to provide consistent, quality, person-centered mental health services that help children, adolescents, adults, and families improve functioning, develop practical skills, manage mental health symptoms, increase independence, and make meaningful progress toward their treatment goals. The QMHP serves as an important member of the treatment team and is expected to provide dependable services, maintain accurate documentation, complete quarterly reviews and required reports on time, communicate effectively, attend required meetings and training, and support the agency's mission of improving the lives of the individuals and families served.Pay:
