Job Overview The Dual Diagnosis Clinician provides trauma-informed, evidence-based psychotherapy and psychoeducational services for adults enrolled in AXIS Behavioral Health's private-pay Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This role blends high-quality group facilitation with individualized clinical care, ensuring clients receive integrated treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance-use disorders. The clinician maintains a boutique, client-centered experience while upholding regulatory, ethical, and documentation standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities1. Group Facilitation (Primary Duty) Facilitate daily PHP/IOP psychotherapy groups using evidence‑based modalities (CBT, DBT, ACT, MI, relapse‑prevention, trauma‑informed approaches). Maintain group structure, emotional safety, and therapeutic engagement. Deliver curriculum aligned with AXIS's dual‑diagnosis model and program schedule. Document group notes with insurer‑defensible clarity, including interventions, client participation, and clinical relevance. 2. Individual Caseload Management Carry a caseload of individual therapy clients enrolled in PHP/IOP. Conduct weekly individual sessions focused on stabilization, relapse-prevention, trauma-informed care, and functional improvement. Complete diagnostic assessments, biopsychosocial evaluations, and treatment plans. Monitor progress, attendance, barriers to care, and clinical risk. Provide family therapy or collateral sessions when clinically indicated. 3. Clinical Documentation & Compliance Maintain timely, accurate, and audit-ready documentation (progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries). Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and level-of-care justification. Follow AXIS policies, state regulations, and Joint Commission standards. Participate in chart audits and quality-improvement initiatives. 4. Multidisciplinary Collaboration Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical case reviews. Coordinate care with psychiatry, medical providers, case managers, and leadership. Communicate client needs, risk factors, and treatment adjustments promptly. 5. Risk Assessment & Crisis Intervention Conduct suicide-risk, relapse-risk, and safety assessments. Develop and update individualized safety plans. Respond to crises using trauma-informed, clinically appropriate interventions. Document all crisis events with insurer-defensible precision. 6. Client Engagement & Retention Build strong therapeutic rapport within a boutique, high-touch treatment environment. Support client motivation, accountability, and treatment adherence. Identify barriers to engagement and collaborate with the team to resolve them. 7. Program Support & Development Provide feedback on curriculum, workflows, and clinical programming. Assist with onboarding new staff and supporting clinical interns/associates. Uphold AXIS's luxury wellness brand through professional communication and client experience. Required Qualifications Master's or doctoral degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field. Active licensure (LPCC, LMFT, LCSW, Psychologist) or associate licensure under supervision. Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance-use disorders. Competency in evidence-based modalities and trauma-informed care. Strong documentation skills and familiarity with insurer-defensible standards. Ability to facilitate psychotherapy groups confidently and effectively. Preferred Qualifications Prior PHP/IOP or high-acuity outpatient experience. Training in DBT, ACT, EMDR, or other specialized modalities. Experience with utilization review or insurance collaboration. Familiarity with electronic health record systems (Kipu, etc.).
