NATURE OF WORK
As a Children's Therapist, the duties include assessing, planning, and providing psychotherapy/counseling services for child consumers. This involves the application of standardized assessment tools, therapy and counseling techniques, and crisis intervention services. The Children's Therapist advocates on behalf of the child, plans, and sets treatment goals and objectives with the child and family and evaluates the progress toward these goals. The Children's Therapist acts a member of the consumers' Interdisciplinary Team, communicating frequently with Children's Case Manager and Children's Psychiatrist to deliver quality behavioral health services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assesses client's needs and evaluates the client's progress. Seeks supervision and training from the Associate Director of Children's Services for questions and guidance regarding treatment, counseling, therapy, and therapy interventions. Develops measurable, observable, time-limited, independence-promoting objectives for inclusion in the treatment plan to address client's goals. Clarifies client's therapy objectives with clients, clients' parents/guardians, and other treatment team members. Will provide group and individual therapy sessions in accordance with treatment schedule. Evaluates progress towards treatment objective(s) and revises treatment plan(s) as needed. Links clients and clients' parents/guardians with necessary resources and services within Valley HealthCare System or within the community to address client needs. Completes and submits documentation in a timely manner as required by Valley HealthCare System, Medicaid, Medicare, Private Insurances, and any other licensing agencies. Participates in treatment plan meetings, staffing, and clinical meetings. Attends all mandated trainings related to profession and enhances knowledge and/or skills. Adheres to Valley HealthCare System's Values & Standards of Performance & Ethical Conduct in addition to professional code of ethics in performing therapy services. Cultivates professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, adhering to professional standards, reviewing professional publications, and establishing professional networks. Returns phone calls and handles referrals and time sensitive tasks in a timely manner. Adheres to timely and accurate documentation standards. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to perform Essential Duties as outlined below. MA/MS in Human Service Field. Currently holds or is actively pursuing a license in the State of West Virginia as one of the following: Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Psychologist (LP) or pursuing Licensure as a Psychologist (Gold Card). If holding a provisional LPC License, must obtain a regular license as soon as eligible or at maximum within two (2) years from date of hire. Knowledge of various diagnostic categories and clinical manifestations. Minimum one-year experience counseling children. Knowledge of agency, state, and federal guidelines. Ability to comply with Client's Rights. Ability to comply with Valley's and division/departmental safety procedures. Ability to read, write, understand, and speak the English language. Ability to perform basic computer and e-mail functions.
Pay:
$52,000.00 - $55,500.00 per year
