Job Description
About Outpatient Clinics Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area. Scope of work Under the direction of clinical geneticists (MD/DO) and /or certified genetic counselors (CGC), the genetic counselor assistant (GCA) will be responsible for supporting the counseling, testing, and diagnosis provided by the clinic. The GCA will interview patients and document personal and family medical history prior to patient visit, coordinate joint visits with the CGCs, MD/DO, RDs and other ancillary staff, obtain testing authorization and approval, prepare samples for transportation t laboratories within and outside of HDVCH, facilitate follow up with referring healthcare providers and laboratory personnel and other patient preparation and follow up tasks to support the clinic staff. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Biology/Health Science Required 1 year of relevant patient/family contact in a community or medical setting, previous experience with clinical projects either in an administrative or clinical role Required Demonstrated knowledge of medical practice terminology Required 1 year of relevant experience in Prior Authorizations Preferred How Corewell Health cares for you Comprehensive benefits package to meet your financial, health, and work/life balance goals.
