About the Role We're launching Future Medics , an EMS & Healthcare Career Pathway program for high school students, built on the American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response (EMR) curriculum. We're looking for a working EMT, paramedic, or EMS professional who's passionate about mentoring the next generation of first responders and healthcare professionals. You'll lead hands-on instruction — patient assessment, CPR/AED, first aid, trauma care, and bleeding control — guiding students to earn real, industry-recognized credentials while exploring careers in emergency medicine, nursing, and allied health. What You'll Do Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in two 60-minute after-school sessions per week (34 weeks, full school year) at a high school campus in San Bernardino Teach the American Red Cross EMR curriculum, including weekly skills labs (CPR manikins, AED trainers, bleeding-control trainers, and full equipment provided) Lead students through CPR/AED, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed® certification blocks Run scenario-based emergency simulations with rotating student team-lead roles Mentor students on EMS and healthcare career pathways; support guest speaker sessions and a fire station/hospital site visit Support the year-end Future Medics Showcase for families and the school community Required Qualifications Current or recent experience as an EMT, paramedic, ER technician, nurse, or comparable EMS/healthcare role Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification (or equivalent/higher) Ability to pass LiveScan/DOJ background clearance and TB screening (required for work on school campuses) Reliable transportation to the San Bernardino school site Genuine enthusiasm for working with high school students Preferred Qualifications American Red Cross instructor certification (EMR, First Aid/CPR/AED, or BLS) — or an instructor certification from another organization (AHA, HSI); we'll sponsor your Red Cross instructor bridge or certification course Prior teaching, training, precepting, or youth mentoring experience Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Schedule & Compensation Part-time:
two weekday afternoon sessions per week (approx. 2:30-4:30 PM window; exact schedule set with the school site), September through May $40-$55/hour depending on experience and certifications Instructor certification training sponsored by RiseUP Stars Additional hours available across our other school-site programs for the right candidate Job Type Part-time Pay Competitive hourly rate (commensurate with experience).
