Job Description
Overall Purpose
The job of EHS/HS Health Manager is done for the purpose/s of managing the health services for EHS/HS children from birth through age four and pregnant women; providing information to others; and implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards.

Essential Functions
Assists in all facets of program management in health (gathering health related information, health screenings for children and parents or guardians, training for parents or guardians, coordination of staff development, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring enrolled children and families are receiving the appropriate services under departmental and governmental standards.
Delivers individualized and group health training (child, prenatal, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the health needs of children and their families are met.
Maintains a variety of files and records (family and child health and dental records, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
Monitors health services (child health assessment data, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that performance outcomes are achieved within budget, department, and district objectives.
Coordinates and participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars (annual self-assessments, Health Services Advisory Committee, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Prepares a wide variety of written materials (reports, memos, records, letters, health plans, contracts, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
Processes documents and materials (assessments, evaluations, informational materials, contracts, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties.
Provides technical assistance to Head Start center/child care staff (current EHS/HS guidelines, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring services are delivered in compliance with established guidelines.
Researches a variety of information (latest licensure requirements, EHS/HS guidelines, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of delivering services in compliance with established guidelines.
Responds to inquiries (health screenings, assistance requested, etc.) for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel.
Works as a liaison between various agencies and service providers (Health Department, medical services for children, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring developmentally appropriate, timely, and safe delivery of health-related services to EHS/HS children with or without disabilities.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

Required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read and write technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: state and federal health standards and hazards; safety practices and procedures; stages of child development; adult learning needs and the change process; conflict resolution; and early childhood principles.

Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Requirements
College degree in Public Health, Nursing/Medical Assistant, Health Education, or related field
Demonstrated experience in public health, nursing, health education, maternal and child health or equivalent
Physical Requirements
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. Continuing Education/Training
