Responsible for professional learning development and delivery, data collection and evaluation, and various tasks that support the development, revision, implementation, and improvement of a cohesive K-12 Health and PE program for instruction and assessment of the district\'s Health and PE Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS). Design and deliver professional learning for the Health and PE program, K-12. Develop and facilitate professional learning consistent with philosophy, goals, objectives, and needs of the district and the Health and PE program, K-12.Provide professional learning opportunities by modeling and facilitating instruction with teachers.Demonstrate practical application of research based, learner centered instructional strategies, including the Quality-Plus Instructional Strategies.
Provide support and professional learning to local school leadership and instructional teams. Demonstrate content knowledge and professional growth. Engage in continual learning to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge in Health and PE.Develop and improve knowledge through professional development, conferences, publications, and collegial networks. Develop curriculum resources designed to support the Health and PE Academic Knowledge and Skills, K-12. Support the pilot and implementation of health and PE instructional resources.
Lead the development of instructional resources to include eCLASS course pages, unit and lesson plans, assessments, and other resources as needed for the Health and PE program, K-12.Collect data from a variety of sources (e.g., local, state, national) to monitor student healthy behavior outcomes (HBOs) and FitnessGram performance levels.
Effectively analyze and use local school data to lead data talks to impact student achievement in health and PE. Support local schools using current, research-based pedagogy and strategies. Provide support to school leadership and instructional teams in the development and sustainability of an effective health and PE program. Communicate to various internal and external audiences concerning current program research and information. Communicate program philosophy, goals, and objectives to various audiences.
Provide information to appropriate personnel regarding current research, knowledge, and trends in Health and PE. Plan and lead new teacher induction for schools/district in collaboration with the Offices of Health and PE and Staff Development. Model protocols to lead grade band teams by analyzing student work, facilitating formative assessment practices, development of teacher content knowledge, and/or pedagogical knowledge in collaboration with the Offices of Health and PE and Staff Development. Cultivate partnerships with local, state, and national leaders in the field (including business and community representatives, Institutions of Higher Education, etc.) to ensure the continued growth of the department.
Conduct multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of a collaborative team. Collaborate with other curriculum departments in support of a coherent vision for teaching and learning throughout the district.
