Chicago, IL Servicing Areas:
Englewood, Chatam, and the Auburn Gresham areas Position starts: July 1, 2026 Public Equity is seeking a licensed and trauma-informed Mental Health Wellness Services Contractor to facilitate psychoeducational wellness workshops for participants impacted by community violence throughout Chicago communities. This contracted position plays a vital role in supporting healing, emotional wellness, resilience, and trauma recovery within a Community Violence Intervention (CVI) framework. The contractor will facilitate bi-weekly group workshops designed to provide participants with practical coping strategies, emotional regulation tools, and supportive discussions centered on the effects of trauma and violence exposure. Workshops are intended to be participant-centered, drop-in friendly, and grounded in evidence-based and trauma-informed care principles. This role does not include individual therapy, psychological assessments, diagnosis, or clinical treatment planning. Services are limited to group psychoeducational workshop facilitation and wellness support. The Contractor is engaged solely as an independent contractor and is not an employee, agent, partner, or joint venturer of the Organization.
Workshop Topics May Include:
Understanding trauma and its impact on the brain, body, and behavior Grief, loss, and healing from community violence Managing stress, fear, anxiety, and emotional triggers Healthy coping skills and anger management strategies Emotional regulation and grounding techniques Rebuilding trust and healthy relationships Navigating healthcare, legal, and social service systems Strength-building, resilience, and future-focused wellness planning
Contractor Responsibilities:
Facilitate trauma-informed mental health wellness workshops according to the agreed schedule Maintain attendance documentation and participant sign-in sheets Submit invoices and required supporting documentation promptly Provide brief workshop summaries or engagement updates upon request Maintain professional ethical standards and compliance with all applicable laws and grant requirements
Qualifications:
Current and unrestricted Illinois LCPC license in good standing with IDFPR required Experience working with trauma, violence-impacted populations, or underserved communities preferred Strong group facilitation, communication, and participant engagement skills Knowledge of trauma-informed care, emotional wellness, and community-based support models Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary violence prevention environment
Contract Details:
Up to (30) bi-weekly workshop sessions over the course of 12 months Compensation up to $15,000 total ($500 per session) Independent contractor position Professional liability insurance and Certificate of Insurance (COI) are required prior to services beginning.
