Brenda Flores Position Summary The Wellness Ambassador is an entry-level student engagement position that serves as a visible representative of wellness resources and programming on campus. Ambassadors help students learn where to find support by conducting outreach, supporting events, sharing approved wellness information, and helping students navigate to appropriate campus resources. No prior wellness employment experience or cohort completion is required. Federal Work-Study Responsibilities Welcome students and provide approved information about Wellness Center hours, programs, and campus resources. Assist with wellness-event setup, check-in, materials, attendance tracking, and breakdown. Prepare and distribute supervisor-approved wellness information and outreach materials. Maintain organized supplies, resource displays, and routine participation records. Refer students requesting counseling, clinical guidance, crisis support, or confidential services directly to qualified professional staff. Do not provide counseling, diagnosis, treatment, or independent wellness advice. Federal Work-Study Eligibility Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year. Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work. Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements. Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work. Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications Currently enrolled RCC student in good standing and eligible for the approved Federal Work-Study placement. Approachable and comfortable speaking with new people. Reliable, organized, punctual, and attentive to detail. Interest in health, wellness, student engagement, community service, or helping students connect to resources. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and follow College privacy and safety procedures.
Additional Information:
Scope of Practice & Safety Wellness Ambassadors provide information, outreach, logistical support, and resource navigation. They do not provide mental health counseling, therapy, diagnosis, treatment, or crisis intervention. Ambassadors must follow College procedures for promptly escalating safety, harm, crisis, or other concerns requiring professional staff intervention. Federal Work-Study Compliance Notes This FWS assignment is part-time, on-campus student employment and is contingent upon continued Federal Work-Study eligibility and available award funding. FWS students may perform only the duties identified for the FWS assignment and approved by the supervisor; Learn & Earn responsibilities are not interchangeable with FWS duties. Students and supervisors are responsible for monitoring scheduled hours so the student does not exceed the approved FWS award or institutional work-hour limits. Timesheets must accurately reflect hours actually worked and be approved by the designated supervisor through the College's approved timekeeping process. Student Learning & Professional Development Outcomes Communicate professionally with diverse students and campus stakeholders. Conduct student outreach and wellness-resource promotion. Support event logistics and community engagement activities. Navigate and explain appropriate campus resources within the scope of the role. Demonstrate reliability, teamwork, professionalism, appropriate boundaries, and workplace accountability. Supervision & Performance The Wellness Ambassador reports to the Assistant Director of Wellness or designated Wellness Center staff. Students receive required training, regular supervision, feedback, and professional-development opportunities. Performance concerns will be addressed through RCC's progressive intervention process.
