Overview The Lactation Consultant utilizes the nursing process to assess lactating mothers and their families, develop, and implement a specific plan of care that promotes optimal outcomes for the family; while meeting their educational needs. The Lactation Consultant serves as a clinical resource for healthcare professionals regarding lactation and participates in quality and process improvement activities within Lactation Services and clinical areas utilizing their services.
