The American Heart Association's Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. The intern would support American Heart Association's brain health strategies. This would include helping gather, organize, and summarize scientific literature on the relationship between cardio

• and cerebro-vascular health and brain health
• spanning from biological connections to common risk factors, including physical activity, diet and sleep.

Building on understanding gained, the student would contribute to the development, evaluation, and communication of programs aimed at improving brain and heart health. • Support the American Heart Association's brain health strategy by gathering, organizing, and summarizing scientific literature on the relationships between cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and brain health.
• Conduct research spanning biological mechanisms and shared risk factors, including physical activity, diet, sleep, and other lifestyle determinants of health.
• Contribute to the development, evaluation, and refinement of programs designed to improve heart and brain health outcomes.
• Assist in translating scientific findings into clear, actionable communication materials for internal and external audiences.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance initiatives that promote brain health and evidence-based practice. Qualifications
• Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in public health, health science, neuroscience, epidemiology, health administration, or a related field preferred.
• Strong interest in the intersection of cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and brain health, including prevention and population health approaches.
• Experience or coursework in scientific literature review, research methods, or evidence synthesis preferred.
• Knowledge of or interest in lifestyle and behavioral health factors such as physical activity, nutrition, sleep, and their impact on health outcomes.
• Ability to interpret and translate complex scientific or clinical information into clear, actionable communication for multiple audiences.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail when managing research materials and data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience organizing or summarizing data across sources preferred.
• Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Self-starter who can manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Ability to work professionally in a corporate or nonprofit setting and contribute to projects from initiation through completion.

• Required Equipment:

  Reliable Wi-Fi connection.
• Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 9am-5pm.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
