Posting Summary
UVM Extension's Nutrition Educator will work with various federally funded programs, community grants, and fee-based contracts to deliver public education to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices, primarily among limited resource families and individuals, with the potential to work with a larger variety of audiences throughout the County and other regions in the state.
Predominantly the Nutrition Educator will identify, recruit, and provide education to eligible audiences in the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). This includes limited-resourced pregnant women, families with children, and youth. Classes are taught as a series in the community and home setting, both in-person and online.
The Nutrition Educator will help families acquire the knowledge and skills for healthful food selection, meal planning, food preparation, food safety, and physical activity. Class content includes general nutrition information and cooking instruction. All instruction is based on USDA guidelines using provided curriculum and materials. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) High school diplomaG.E.D. or an equivalent combination of experience educating adults andor youth in nutrition, life skills, or a closely related field. Must provide own reliable transportation to and from work sites. Desirable Qualifications

- Confident speaking in front of groups and engaging participants in class activities
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively recruit and retain participants and collaborate with community agencies
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Computer skills, including MS office, email, Zoom, data entry or willingness to learn. Anticipated Pay Range $20.80
