As a key member of the surgical team, you will coordinate and support the operating room activities, ensuring that all aspects of patient safety, infection control, and procedural efficiency are meticulously maintained. Your expertise will help facilitate smooth surgeries across various specialties, including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, trauma centers, pediatrics, and critical care environments. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced setting where your skills directly impact patient outcomes and surgical success. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are sterile and ready for use. Assist surgeons and surgical teams by providing appropriate instruments and supplies during procedures while maintaining aseptic technique. Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses throughout surgeries, documenting changes accurately in medical records. Support infection control protocols by adhering to strict sterilization procedures and maintaining a sterile environment. Collect and document data related to surgical procedures, including patient information, procedure details, and intraoperative observations using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic. Assist with suturing and wound closure under supervision when required, ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in trauma centers, PICUs (Pediatric Intensive Care Units), or ambulatory surgery centers to optimize patient care before, during, and after procedures. Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices. Proven experience in hospital environments with exposure to medical-surgical units or ICU settings. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Epic or other EHR platforms for accurate documentation. Excellent analysis skills to interpret vital signs and physiological data swiftly and accurately. Hands-on experience with aseptic techniques, infection control standards, and sterilization processes. Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) procedures confidently in emergency situations. Skilled in handling various surgical instruments such as suturing tools with precision. Experience working in Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers is highly desirable. Knowledge of pediatric care protocols for working within PICUs or pediatric outpatient settings. Prior OR experience in ambulatory surgery centers or hospital operating rooms preferred.
