Position:

Positions are with Evans Army Community Hospital, Directorate of Surgery, Department of Surgery Otorhinolaryngology Service, Fort Carson, CO. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Learn more about this agency This job is open to The public U.S. Citizens, Nationals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Duties Perform diagnostic and treatment support procedures for the medical care of patients with injuries, disorders and diseases of the ear, nose and throat. Provide customer service by responding to or forwarding calls and/or injuries in a timely manner. Assist in pre-operative care of patients. Use automated systems to register and schedule patient appointments. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. A pre-placement medical examination is required. This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing. This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 30 pounds may be required.

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience performing or assisting with patient examination of the ears, nose and throat; obtaining patient information, such as, temperature, blood pressure, etc.; AND scheduling patient appointments within an automated system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
