Honoka'a Hospital is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Imaging Specialist II to join our Imaging Services team. This position performs diagnostic radiologic examinations using advanced imaging equipment while ensuring high-quality patient care, safety, and compliance with departmental and regulatory standards. The Imaging Specialist II works closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate diagnostic imaging services for patients across the lifespan.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations and specialized imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders, department protocols, and quality standards. Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, administer contrast media as required, and ensure patients understand examination processes. Operate and maintain imaging equipment, monitor image quality, and ensure timely transfer of images through PACS and electronic medical record systems. Assist physicians and clinical staff with specialized procedures while adhering to infection control, radiation safety, and patient safety guidelines. Collect and document pertinent clinical information, obtain informed consent when required, and maintain accurate patient records. Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, continuing education, and cross-training opportunities to support departmental operations and patient care excellence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Bachelor's degree from a program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying experience. Experience Six (6) months of progressively responsible professional imaging technologist experience demonstrating knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures and techniques. Certification Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography [ARRT(R)]. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six (6) months of employment. Licensure Current State of Hawaii Radiologic Technologist License as a Radiographer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience performing a variety of diagnostic and specialized imaging procedures. Knowledge of PACS, electronic medical records, radiation safety practices, and quality assurance processes. Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient care skills. Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, standby, and callback assignments as needed.
