Job Description
What You'll Do As a Patient Care Technician in Inpatient Services, you will provide compassionate, hands-on support to patients while assisting the nursing team in delivering high-quality care. You'll play a key role in helping patients with daily activities and ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. In this role, you will: Provide basic patient care under the direction of an RN or LPN, following established policies and procedures. Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, ambulation, feeding, toileting, and repositioning. Respond promptly to call lights and ensure patient needs are met in a timely and respectful manner. Support patient safety by following infection control practices, including proper hand hygiene and isolation protocols. Observe and report any changes in patient condition to the primary nurse. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment. Adapt to changing patient needs, staffing levels, and patient acuity, including floating to other areas when needed. Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to provide comprehensive, compassionate care. Deliver excellent customer service using AIDET, hourly rounding, bedside communication, and other patient experience best practices. Document care accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR). Participate in ongoing education and complete required competencies to maintain and grow skills. Support orientation and training of new staff or students as needed. Promote a positive team environment through respectful communication and collaboration. Perform all other duties as assigned.
